Serhan Erkol

Tenor Saxophone
Serhan Erkol, who started his music education by studying classical music at Izmir Dokuz Eylül University, Buca Faculty of Education, Department of Music, also took violin, piano, voice and flute lessons during his education. While continuing his education, he started playing violin in the Izmir Youth Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Tuğrul Göğüş. Due to his interest in wind instruments and jazz music, he turned to clarinet and saxophone.
In 1999, when Istanbul Bilgi University Music Department opened as the only school providing education on Jazz Saxophone, he decided to settle in Istanbul and study at this school. First, he studied in the department as a guest student for a year, and then he passed the saxophone talent exams and was entitled to study as a scholarship student in the department.
He worked with Ricky Ford, Lawrence “Butch” Morris, Donovan Mixon, Aydın Esen, Can Kozlu, Ali Perret at Bilgi University. He took part in various clubs and festivals in Türkiye and abroad with the Ricky Ford Orchestra, Donovan Mixon Quartet, Teneffüs and many other groups. After graduating from Bilgi University in 2014, he was accepted to the New England Conservatory, Contemporary Improvisation master's program with a Fulbright Scholarship. At this school, he had the opportunity to study with Ran Blake, George Garzone, Peter Row, Jerry Bergonzi, Allen Chase, Joe Morris and Anthony Coleman.
Continuing his career as a professional musician, Erkol plays in various music projects and performs in reputable music venues with his projects in which he plays his own original music.
