Yürüyen Merdiven feat. Gaia Mattiuzzi

“Yürüyen Merdiven” is the story of twenty years of friendship and the journey of its music. The first thing that comes to mind is a mechanical escalator; A two-legged, loving, running, dancing, breathing escalator. The melodic approach of the drums and the percussive characters of the piano are intertwined; An Escalator who is eager to take everyone he meets on his journey with him, with a balanced, lively and mischievous identity.
In this concert, Yürüyen Merdiven will be accompanied by Gaia Mattiuzzi on vocal tonight.

Vocalist and composer Gaia Mattiuzzi, one of Italy’s leading contemporary jazz artists, released her debut album as a bandleader, *Laut*, in 2013. Garnering acclaim from both critics and audiences, the album won awards in the “Album of the Year” and “Best New Talent” categories in *Musica Jazz* magazine’s 2013 “Top Jazz” poll. That same year, she received special recognition in the “Female Vocalist – Italy” category at *Jazz It* magazine’s 2013 “Jazz It Awards.” Her second album, *Inner Core*—comprising original compositions inspired by the poetry of James Joyce—seeks to strike a balance between composed structure and improvisation, driven by a quest for artistic freedom that embraces jazz, song forms, contemporary musical languages, and electronic fusion. Mattiuzzi currently serves as the head of the jazz vocal department at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Milan.
