Volkan Topakoğlu Quartet

Bassist, composer, and academic Volkan Topakoğlu completed his high school education at Istanbul Avni Akyol Fine Arts High School, specializing in piano and cello, before earning his undergraduate degree in Bass Guitar at the Yıldız Technical University Faculty of Art and Design, Music Department. He then re-ceived a Master’s degree in Composition from ITU Turkish Classical Music Conservatory and a Proficiency in Art degree in Jazz from Istanbul University State Conservatory. He released his first album, Birdenbire, un-der his own name in 2015. He was a finalist in the 2013 Estonia Nomme Jazz Festival Jazz Artist competi-tion. He was nominated for “Best Music” at the New Theatre Magazine Labor and Achievement Awards for the music he composed for the play “Teessür”. He currently continues his work as a lecturer in the Music Department at Yıldız Technical University.
