Pianist Uğur Güneş was born in İzmir and his musical life began in 1986 at Dokuz Eylül University State Conservatory. During his student years, he became interested in jazz, which was not welcome under the umbrella of classical music at that time. He started working and playing with Kürşat And, a double bass player from Izmir, who was one of the important milestones among the jazz musicians of the period. After his graduation in 1996, he settled in Istanbul. He worked on jazz culture repertoire and harmony with the master jazz artists of the region, Selçuk Sun and Tuna Ötenel. The artist pursued his path by performing in festivals abroad and all over Türkiye, still continues his musical work in Istanbul. Uğur Güneş took part in the album “Sahil”, released in 2008 by Ateş Tezer, one of the leading names in jazz drumming. They gather around again for the album “Unstable”, which was recorded in early 2023 with a great contribution of experienced double bass player Hans Andersson and, one of the new generation stars of trumpet, Tolga Bilgin. The album also includes Güneş’s best as well as jazz standards. The album is unique, with clarity, unity between musicians, and a musical expression that is combined in performances in Trio and Quartet format, away from exaggeration, sincere, and brings happiness to the fore.
