Tolga Bedir was born in Istanbul in 1979. At the age of 8, he began studying violin at the Mimar Sinan Uni-versity Conservatory. He acted in the AKM State Opera and Ballet, playing leading roles in the musical “Neşeli Günler” and “Sound of Music”. Following this, he turned to music, his absolute pitch was recognized, and he took lessons from Özcan Ulucan. At 14, he developed an interest in jazz music and was later influ-enced by Aydın Esen.
From 1999 onwards, he worked for many years as a pianist in the Imer Demirer Quartet and the Ece Göksu Quartet at Q Jazz Bar. In 2005, he applied to Berklee College of Music with a degree in classical music and jazz, and studied for two semesters with a 45% scholarship. He studied Jazz Composition Piano with Ray Santisi and took drum lessons as a second instrument. In addition to his academic education, he worked for many years with violin virtuoso Özcan Ulucan and world-renowned jazz pianist Aydın Esen. In later years, he accompanied Esen on drums in his concerts.
During his school years, he won third place twice with his pieces “Deep” and “New World” and first place with his composition “Toprak” in the Halıcı Midi Computer Composition Competition. He accompanied as a violin-ist in the Borusan Chamber Orchestra, the CRR Symphony Orchestra, and the Mediterranean Youth Or-chestra (Marseille/France). After graduating from the Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory with de-grees in Violin (Bachelor’s), Composition, and Orchestra Conducting (Bachelor’s), he accompanied and ar-ranged jazz and pop soloists and musicians on stage and in album recordings both domestically and interna-tionally, playing keyboards, drums, and bass guitar. He conducted orchestras in concerts where he had cre-ated symphonic arrangements of pop music pieces by local and foreign artists. In addition to performing on jazz stages in Berlin in 2025, he also participated in classes as an assistant teacher many times at the SAE Music School. Tolga Bedir, who has three singles and four albums to his name, has been producing projects with vocalists and musicians in his own studio since 2012; he continues his musical journey as a composer and arranger.
