GARANTİ BBVA Engin Recepoğulları Quartet Remembering John Coltrane

Engin Recepoğulları was born in Ankara in 1980. He studied jazz harmony with Ömür Gidel, and saxophone and improvisation with Ricky Ford. He performed as part of the 12th Izmir European Jazz Festival with the Open Jazz Orchestra, founded by Claudio Fasoli and Antonio Zambrini. Following these performances, he received an IKSEV scholarship to attend the Siena Masterclass Summer Course in Italy and was awarded the “Young Musician of the Year” scholarship. Currently based in Istanbul, Recepoğulları continues to per-form with prominent figures of the Turkish jazz scene—such as İmer Demirer, Sarp Maden, Önder Focan, Ozan Musluoğlu, Ferit Odman, Kerem Görsev, Muvaffak Falay, Sibel Köse, Erkan Oğur, and Cem Aksel—as well as with various ensembles including the CRR Bigband, Istanbul Superband, and the TRT Jazz Or-chestra.
