Ceyda Özbaşarel Quintet

After graduating from the Environmental Engineering department at Yıldız Technical University (YTÜ), Ceyda Özbaşarel graduated at the top of her class from the Piano Department at Kocaeli University’s Faculty of Fine Arts. She studied ear training with Donovan Mixon and spent many years working on sound and jazz vocals with Randy Esen. She participated in workshops led by artists such as Sheila Jordan, Kevin Mahogany, and Aydın Esen. She was featured in the “Garanti Caz Ağacı” (Garanti Jazz Tree) concert series and developed the “Bi’ Şarkım Var!” (I Have a Song!) project alongside Başak Yavuz.
An active performer and instructor of voice and piano since 2009, Özbaşarel has contributed guest vocals to Banu Kanıbelli’s single “Lobna” and album *Bi’ Şarkım Var*, Başak Yavuz’s album *Little Red Bug*, and Şevket Akıncı’s albums *Escher Chronicles* and *Radyo Ekoton*; she also provided guest vocals for the soundtrack of Serdar Yılmaz’s short film *Bağlanma Hali*.
Distinguished by her contemporary jazz style and lyrical storytelling, Ceyda Özbaşarel released her debut album, *Madtime Stories*, in 2021. Tonight, the group will present a repertoire featuring tracks from the album alongside beloved jazz standards.
