Erdem Özkan, born in Istanbul in 1980, took his first steps in music between 1989 and 1991 in Melih Kibar’s piano workshop. During his years as a student at the Austrian High School, he continued his ballroom dance studies, which began with the waltz, until he graduated from Bilkent University’s Department of International Relations in 2003, participating in various national competitions and achieving rankings. In 2011, as part of the Dance-A-Natra project, which brought together ballroom dance and jazz, he made his first vocal attempts with arrangements by Nejdi Şimşek. During this period, he performed many times in Antalya, Ankara, Eskişehir, and Istanbul with the Starlighters Band. At the Sibel Köse Vocal Workshop, which he joined in 2015, he had the opportunity to study with Sibel Köse, Evrim Özşuca, and Ekim Biçer. Erdem Özkan, who worked with prominent musicians as part of the Puławy Jazz Camp he attended in the summer of 2016, currently performs on various jazz stages in Istanbul, İzmir, and Ankara. The artist’s first album, “Get Around,” was released in February 2022.
