Volkan Polat Quartet

He graduated from the Classical Guitar Department at Istanbul Pera Fine Arts High School and then from the Music Theory Department at the Turkish Music State Conservatory at Istanbul Technical University. During his conservatory education, he studied modal improvisation, jazz, and classical Western music, as well as classical Turkish music. During these same years, he also had the opportunity to study jazz guitar and harmony with Kamil Özler, Neşet Ruacan, and Donovan Mixon. He won first place in the Nardis Jazz Club Young Jazz Guitarist Competition in 2012. Over the years, he has shared the stage with many esteemed jazz musicians, both local and international, at various jazz clubs and festivals both in Turkey and abroad. Volkan Polat continues to give concerts with his own band on the Istanbul jazz scene and to train students.
