Juno Award-winning clarinetist Virginia MacDonald has established herself as a leading voice of her genera-tion. Known for her lyrical and dynamic approach to the clarinet, she has been described by legendary clari-netist Doreen Ketchens as playing “like a scholar, very refined with plenty of soul.” As an in-demand bandle-ader, sidewoman, and composer, she maintains a busy international performance schedule, regularly appea-ring at renowned venues such as Birdland, Smalls, Ronnie Scott’s, Le Duc des Lombards, and Dizzy’s. Her festival appearances span the globe, with performances at the Detroit, Rochester, Torino, Montreal, and Toronto Jazz Festivals, among others.

Born on 22.6.1982 in Leoben (Austria), first drum lessons in 1988 with Nik Wonisch in Bruck, from 2001to 2007 studies at the KUG Graz with Prof. Manfred Josel, Christian Salfellner and Howard Curtis, finished with Master degree. Workshops with Billy Cobham, Bruno Castellucci, John Riley, Lewis Nash, Charli Persip, Jimmy Cobb, and many more.
