The live final auditions of the 21st Nardis Young Jazz Musician Competition were held last night at Nardis with the support of Yapı Kredi Play. Before this year’s candidates took the stage, we listened to a song from Özgü Dündar, last year’s highest-voted vocalist.
Accompanied by the house band consisting of Uraz Kıvaner on piano, Ozan Musluoğlu on bass, and Ekin Cengizkan on drums, 10 contestants performed two pieces each live on stage. After the live performances, a 45-minute break was given for jury deliberations. This year, the level of the contestants was remarkably high. The jury and the audience witnessed extraordinary performances. Based on the scoring by 11 jury members and the house band’s evaluation, Selami Baysal (drums) won first place, Ulaş Özdemir (bass) won second place, and Defne Yiğit (vocals) won third place.
