Born in 1980 in Istanbul, Kağan Yıldız started his first music lessons with his uncle Orhan Akıncı, a music teacher. In 1991, he enrolled in Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory Double Bass Department and continued his studies with Assist. Prof. Engin Babahan. Yıldız, who played in the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra during his student years, decided to continue his studies in jazz music after graduation in 2002 and shared the same stage with the leading names of Turkey. In 2006, he started playing with the Kerem Görsev Trio and played at many festivals in Turkey and abroad. In Istanbul, he had the opportunity to perform on the same stage with Benny Golson, Freddy Cole, Dena De Rose, Kevin Mahagany, Jim Rotondi, John D’earth, Dave Samuels and Alain Mallet (Caribbean Jazz Project). Recorded in 2017, the album Timeless, a duo project with pianist Can Çankaya, was released in 2018. Apart from his concert activities, Kağan Yıldız teaches double bass at Bahçeşehir University and Istanbul University State Conservatory jazz department.
