“Miles Davis Centennial Celebration”—a special tribute project honoring the innovative spirit, improvisational approach, and enduring influence of Miles Davis, one of the most defining figures in jazz history—has been curated to mark the musician’s 100th birthday. The Barış Doğukan Yazıcı Quintet approaches selected works from various eras of Davis’s career with a unique perspective, while also engaging in a special musical collaboration with pianist Marko Churnchetz, an artist distinguished by his unique musical voice on the European and American jazz scenes. Taking place on September 29 at Nardis Jazz Club as part of the 36th Akbank Jazz Festival’s “Jazz Clubs Night” series, the concert will reinterpret Miles Davis’s timeless music through a contemporary jazz lens.
